Rare Erik Kirkegaard Model 42 Solid Teak in Orange Fabric

Rare survivor in its original fabric. Designed by Erik Kirkegaard in the 1960’s, this model was made by Høng Stolefabrik for approximately 9 years. Made of solid teak with orange tweed fabric. Original foam under the fabric is still soft but loosing its hold and will need replacing in the next 5-10 years depending on volume of use. This piece is in original, as-found condition and only cleaned with lemon oil by us. It has many decades of life left and sits comfortably and structurally sound.

Measures 29” tall overall, 24” wide overall with an 18” seat height.

Erik Kirkegaard (1929-1986), a fiercely respected and well known Danish furniture designer, was known for simple and elegant designs. Born in Denmark, he was classically trained as a cabinetmaker before beginning his studies in furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. He started his working career in the 1950s as a furniture designer, accumulating dozens of incredible designs, that were only produced for a few decades.
